Organization’s History
The Nonprofit Association of the Midlands (NAM) is a member services organization for our area nonprofits that serve the public good and enrich our communities and the lives of individuals. As part of a national network, we work to amplify the voice and build the capacity of local community-based nonprofits. NAM’s mission is to be the leader to assist nonprofit organizations as they build their individual capacity and collective influence. Today, NAM has over 250 members.
With the motto to “Connect, Promote and Strengthen Nonprofits,” NAM services reflect just that. Our signature service, the Health Insurance Trust, began in 2002. Today more than 1,700 nonprofit employees from 29 organizations of all sizes participate in the Trust. 403B retirement plan options were added in 2009 to guarantee nonprofits are able to offer great benefits to attract and retain quality employees.
A wide range of professional development opportunities continue to be developed by local and national experts and offered to our members in an effort to meet the changing demands of the third sector. NAM has increased our partnership with local foundations and government agencies to bring quality training at an affordable price for nonprofits. NAM works with members to raise the profile of the nonprofit sector and awareness for the quality of life that nonprofit ensure for our communities. This ever increasing advocacy effort will continue to grow.
